I will always do my best to fulfil your needs and meet your expectations, but it’s important to have things written down so that we both know what’s what, who should do what and when, and what will happen if something goes wrong.
In this contract, you won’t find any complicated legal terms or long passages of unreadable text. I've no desire to trick you into signing something that you might later regret.
I want what is best for both parties, now and in the future, so we can work well together.
By signing up with GoCardless or transferring the initial balance you are agreeing to work within these terms so please take a moment to read them and ask any questions you may have.

From my side
I create look-and-feel designs, and flexible layouts that adapt to the capabilities of many devices and screen sizes, in other words these days your site will never look the same on every screen, but it will have the same overall look and feel.
I will draft up the design of your website and then ask for your feedback before I spend hours tweaking something you really don't like!
I test my work in current versions of major desktop browsers including those made by Apple (Safari), Google (Chrome) and Microsoft (Edge). I won’t test in other older / other browsers unless agreed separately.
Mobile browser testing using popular smaller screen devices is essential in ensuring that a person’s experience of a design is appropriate to the capabilities of the device they’re using. I test my designs in: iOS: Safari, Android: Google Chrome
I am not a website hosting company, all our sites are hosted with NameCheap or with your own provider. NameCheap guarantee over 99% uptime and we have found them to be super reliable, so we focus on what I am good at and let them handle the servers.
However I do manage the hosting, maintenance and small updates on your site, for a very reasonable monthly fee. 🙂
I don’t guarantee improvements to your website’s search engine ranking, but the web pages that I develop are definitely accessible to search engines!
Small changes of text or images are no problem and I won't charge for anything that takes less than 15 minutes per month.
If the changes are bigger then I will give you an estimate or fixed quote before doing the work.
Finally I love to show off my work, so I reserve the right to display all aspects of my creative work and the completed project on my portfolio and in articles on websites, in magazine articles and in books.
From your side
I'm sure you understand how important it is as a small business that you pay the invoices I send you promptly.
• Monthly maintenance will be charged on the 1st working day of each month, using the GoCardless system.
• If you haven't already signed up then please do so now: Sign up here
• Payment can be made in Sterling or Euros and cancelled at any time.
• Monthly payments are due as soon as the site is live.
If I am building you a large site, then 50% of the build fee will be due prior to my starting work, and the balance when you are happy with the finished item.
Note: If you are happy with the finished site but it still needs content from you then the balance or monthly payments are still due!
At the beginning we will agree a sitemap with you, I will then provide you with a document to complete the text needed for each section.
You will need to supply me with photographs in a high-resolution digital format.
(If you prefer or require, I can buy stock photographs and provide a separate estimate for this.)
Without the content I can't finish your site, but the monthly maintenance will continue as I still have to look after your site and pay the hosting etc. So please make sure you have the time to prepare some simple text and images if required for me.
If, at any stage, you change your mind about what you want to be delivered, or are not happy with the direction my work is taking you’ll pay me in full for the time I've spent working with you until that point and terminate this contract.
If you want to change your mind or add anything new, that won’t be a problem as I will provide a separate estimate for the additional work.
If I have quoted you for the build of your site then the minimum term for the maintenance plan is as shown in the quote. My theme, plugins etc will no longer be updated if you stop this maintenance, so I strongly recommend you keep my maintenance plan as long as your site is live.
I have been maintaining sites for some of my clients for over 20 years now!
After the initial 24 month contract, you can move your site elsewhere if you prefer. Your site will continue to work, but the subscriptions for tools that I may have used in the build process will end. You can sign up for your own account with each company if required.
(My monthly fee includes the subscription required for most of these tools.)
